PBS dilutes Anti-India Propaganda

more success....

On Sept 19, 2002 PBS TV stations aired a "Mischievously Blatant ANTI-INDIA Propaganda Documentary" titled "Soul of India" throughout USA. For an unsuspected viewer this documentary was expected to be a balanced feature on "Godhra massacre of 58 Hindus by a mob of 2000 Muslims" and "The following riots in which about 500 Muslims 300 Hindus and 100 Policemen were killed". It turned out to be nothing but a "Blatant Anti-Hindu Propaganda" targeted at dividing India on religious lines using handy Gujarat tool. The same technique used by The Media to get sponsorship reward for "TWISTING THE TRUTH".

A week prior to the release of this "Biased Anti-Hindu Feature", IndiaCause launched a protest campaign. PBS station was inundated with emails, Letters, Fax and Phone calls.

Immediately after our strong protest, PBS withdrew most of the objectionable Anti-Hindu text from their website. The  Executive Producer and Programming Director, Mr.Stephen Segaller replied with assurance that "Soul of India" will be a balanced "three-dimensional story" by "Placing Godhra and Ahmedabad in a full context". We are not aware how far this documentary was diluted from its original version. Mr.Segaller did not answer our questions after the show

This successful campaign received media attention from India Abroad (most circulated Indian Weekly in USA) and Hindu Press International (Visit Media Coverage to read reports). Thanks to our members and visitors for their great support.
